My Creative Space – this week.

Over the weekend, not much got done in the way of household chores.  A few loads of washing were put on, but that is only because I did not have to spend too much time away from the sewing machine.

The reason was to turn these pieces of fabric…….

into a quilt top…….

(sorry for bad pics, all photos have to be taken inside due to the wet weather here)

Now, all I have to do is hunt down some backing fabric (I know what I want and can not find enough of it anywhere!!!!), and then I am going to hand quilt it.

I am super keen to get this finished, as it is freezing where we live, and I can not see it getting warmer any time soon, and would love to have it on the bed this winter.

So, I am off to keep searching the internet to hunt down the backing fabric, and then to get stitching!!!

Making Quilts.

A group of mum’s from our school have got together and are putting together a quilt to raffle off and hopefully raise a few dollars to help out around they school.  It has been a great experience, with lots of chatting happening and a bottle of wine or tow shared along the way.

Here is the finished quilt top, now we just need to send it to be quilted and binded.

Swip-swap

I have just signed myself up to participate in a cushion swap.  A cushion swap, what is that I hear you say.  A cushion swap is where i make a cushion cover and send it to a random other crafter out there who has signed up to be a part of the swap.  It is a little bit a crafting for me, and having the pleasure of sending it to someone who love handmade too.

I have not participated in a swap before, and I am a little bit excited and a large bit nervous.  What if what I make is crap, or the person does not like it.  And where will I go for inspiration.  Oh… I better start looking.

Craft swaps are not a new thing.  They have been going for ages, I just have never had the guts to join in.  You too can join in here.  Go on, head there now!! And thanks to Vic for hosting.

Here are some pics of what I may use as inspiration.

Think about joining in.  It will be fun.

Yum, yum, bubblegum!!!

Lots of Internet surfing equals lots of bookmarked pages and lot and lots of things on my ‘wish I had the money to buy this’ list.

This cute as a button bolero, that you can find at Georgie Love, along with all the other ace stuff you can find there too.

Pretty much everything that these guys, at The Vintage Yard Sale have in their online store.  I would love to visit their bricks and mortar store, but am afraid I would have to take out a loan before I left the store.

And one of these kits is on my list of wants, from KnitKnit.  I really really want to learn to knit, but I think I should establish a few more crochet skills before I try my hand at anything new.

So, what do you have on your wish list.  What inspiration and fab products have you found while searching out there in internet land.

My New Togs!

Well, my Christmas present from me to me is great.
I brought a new cossie from My Sister Pat, and I am in love!! I think that I will be doing a lot of lounging by pools this summer (if it ever gets hot enough), just to show these off.

I suggest that you all invest in a pair of these great bathers in the future.  Made here in Oz, by a great little team, we should support handmade and local made and all spend summer looking hot!!!

Wishing you all a Safe and Merry Christmas, and hope that your Christmas day is spent in good company with lots of gifts, food and wine.

My Creative Space #7

My creative space this week is all about showing off the headband that I made for my wedding.  I had to have something handmade by me for the wedding, so I made and showed off the headband in a previous creative space, and here are the pics of the headband in action.

Not the best pic, but I was so happy with the headband, and i think that it suited the dress just perfectly. (but I am a little biased)

And here is the inside pics of the cake.  We deceided to do something a little different for the cake, no boring old white choc mud cake for us.  We were inspired by this cake, and sent a picture of the inside and how we would like to outside to look to the lovely Jodie, of Cinder’s Cottage, and she did a fantastic job.  It was great to cut it open and have everyone gasp at the surprise inside.  No one knew what the cake was like, but we had told everyone it was unique, and it was a huge hit!!! And out kids thought it was pretty cool too.

Hopefully the next creative space will have some more to do with crafting and less to do with wedding, but I don’t like my chances as I have 4 weeks of study to catch up on before I will allow myself to drag out the sewing machine.

Pop over to Kootoyoo’s this week to check out all the other crafty goodness going on in the world.

Our little wedding.

A few weeks ago, we went away on a family holiday and got married at the same time.

We went to Tiona, in Northern NSW and got married in the Green Cathedral.  It was just the most gorgeous location and being from Melbourne, we also had the most wonderful weather too.  After spending just a week there, I am already sporting the summer thongs tan.

It was a great way to do it, as we had family and friends join us for either a few days, or some of them the whole week, and it meant that we were able to have a really good catch up with everyone, instead of just a brief conversation that you get have have with most people at weddings.  It was also SUPER RELAXED.  The ceremony was at 4 in the afternoon, and at 1 o’clock I was still wandering around in a tracksuit and finalising where things would go for the poolside reception.

All done, Husband & Wife!

My bouquet, arranged at 3.30pm the day before!

Saying our I do’s!!

The gorgeous sunset from where we were staying.

Some sightseeing while we were away.  The lighthouse at Seal Rock’s.
A place we will visit again.

A stop-off in Sydney on the way home.

We are home now and have been for a few weeks and enjoying life as Husband and Wife.
More pictures will follow, once I get round to getting them organised and uploaded.
