My Creative Space – this week.

Over the weekend, not much got done in the way of household chores.  A few loads of washing were put on, but that is only because I did not have to spend too much time away from the sewing machine.

The reason was to turn these pieces of fabric…….

into a quilt top…….

(sorry for bad pics, all photos have to be taken inside due to the wet weather here)

Now, all I have to do is hunt down some backing fabric (I know what I want and can not find enough of it anywhere!!!!), and then I am going to hand quilt it.

I am super keen to get this finished, as it is freezing where we live, and I can not see it getting warmer any time soon, and would love to have it on the bed this winter.

So, I am off to keep searching the internet to hunt down the backing fabric, and then to get stitching!!!

My Creative Space #10

This week, I have been super super busy with the hook and yarn.  I have started two projects, and one of them needs to be finished by Saturday night.

Firstly, there is this cushion, that was inspired by Kate at Foxes Lane Flood Relief Cushion auction.  It has been great to make, and the biggest crochet project I have tackled to date.

I think that it is coming along nicely, and am pretty happy with the results so far.  This one has to be finished by Saturday night, but I think I will get it done.  If you want to give this a go for yourself, you can get the pattern here, from the very talented The Royal Sisters.  I love their patterns, and have brought their Grandma Violet cushion pattern as well to tackle next.

And I have been working on this blanket too.

I found the pattern here on Ravelery.  This one is a gift for a friends baby, and they are not due for a few weeks yet, so the blanket has been put on hold until I have the cushion finished.

I have had fun working on these projects, and am really looking forward to getting these finished and working on something new and challenging.  The Grandma Violet cushion that I plan to tackle next has a few new stitches that I have not tried in it, so it will be good to give that a go.

And also, if you have read this far, I am having a SALE this week.  Just use promo code: CS17 at the checkout to get 20% off all purchases, and feel free to tell your friends.

Make sure you pop over to Kristy’s for more creative goodness this week.

My Creative Space #9

This is my first Creative Space for 2011, and I am going to show off some pic’s from my new camera.
Two weeks before Christmas, my old camera, which I have only had for 4 or so years, died.  So Christmas photos were taken on the kids little instant camera’s.
On boxing day, the hubby and I went for a walk and stopped for a coffee and while flicking through the paper saw a Canon EOS 100D on sale.  Great price, so we walked to the nearest store and got one put on hold and picked it up later that day.

And I am loving it and have spent the summer playing with settings and the zoom.

YUM – first ever pavlova made using the Kitchenaid I got for Christmas.

Beautiful butterfly that I snapped during our walk to the Bluff.

Workman hands.

Its been a great deal of fun playing around with the camera, and I can not wait to get a bit more crafty and take some picture’s of of my crafty endeavoues for the year.

Head over to Kristy’s for some more creative spaces.

My Creative Space #7

My creative space this week is all about showing off the headband that I made for my wedding.  I had to have something handmade by me for the wedding, so I made and showed off the headband in a previous creative space, and here are the pics of the headband in action.

Not the best pic, but I was so happy with the headband, and i think that it suited the dress just perfectly. (but I am a little biased)

And here is the inside pics of the cake.  We deceided to do something a little different for the cake, no boring old white choc mud cake for us.  We were inspired by this cake, and sent a picture of the inside and how we would like to outside to look to the lovely Jodie, of Cinder’s Cottage, and she did a fantastic job.  It was great to cut it open and have everyone gasp at the surprise inside.  No one knew what the cake was like, but we had told everyone it was unique, and it was a huge hit!!! And out kids thought it was pretty cool too.

Hopefully the next creative space will have some more to do with crafting and less to do with wedding, but I don’t like my chances as I have 4 weeks of study to catch up on before I will allow myself to drag out the sewing machine.

Pop over to Kootoyoo’s this week to check out all the other crafty goodness going on in the world.

My Creative Space #6

My creative space’s for the foreseeable future will involve crochet, crochet and a little more crochet.  With all the sewing supplies packed up and moved to the new little house, the only crafty things that I have in the house is a few crochet hooks and some wool.  I thinks that I will make it my plan to learn some new crochet skills while it is the only crafty outlet that I have.

Before I packed up all the sewing supplies, I did whip up a little crochet hook holder.

It is little and bright, and a great place to keep all the hooks in one place.

And with my collection of little hooks, we are busy making square after square after square.  I want to make a blanket, and probably needed to use a bigger hook and larger ply yarn.  I did some math, and I need to make up over 200 of these to make the throw in the size I want.  Oh well, at least it will keep me busy and its a nice distraction from keeping the house that is on the market looking like a display home, and gives me something to work towards, as the finished project will look great in our new little home!!

For those of you who have read all the way to the bottom of this post, I would love to offer you a special discount so that you can get crafty, as my crafty endeavours are limited at the moment.

Pop on over to the Miss Milla’s store, type in cspace at the checkout and receive 20% off all orders placed until 20th August.

On this wild, cold wintry day, make sure you pop over to Kootoyoo’s today for some lovely inspiration to brighten your day!!!

My Creative Space #5

This week, it’s our new little abode.  It became ours a week or so ago, and we are not sure when we will be moving in yet, but as the sewing items have been packed in preparation for the big move, all my creative energy goes in to dreaming where I will put everything, and how I will decorate the new place.

It’s so little and cute, and I can not wait to be there are set it up and make it our cosy little home.  (and get the sewing studio built out the back)

Pop over to Kootoyoo’s for some crafty creative spaces this week.

My Creative Space#2…….

Wow, only a day late this time.

This is a quick and easy one.  A cute little girls cross over dress, that I was pattern testing for Little Bird Patterns.  Mixed it up a little, and added a cute vintage button flower.

Mmmm…..I think it turned out ok!!!
