Projects

My Creative Space – this week.

Over the weekend, not much got done in the way of household chores.  A few loads of washing were put on, but that is only because I did not have to spend too much time away from the sewing machine.

The reason was to turn these pieces of fabric…….

into a quilt top…….

(sorry for bad pics, all photos have to be taken inside due to the wet weather here)

Now, all I have to do is hunt down some backing fabric (I know what I want and can not find enough of it anywhere!!!!), and then I am going to hand quilt it.

I am super keen to get this finished, as it is freezing where we live, and I can not see it getting warmer any time soon, and would love to have it on the bed this winter.

So, I am off to keep searching the internet to hunt down the backing fabric, and then to get stitching!!!

Cushion Swap reveal!!

I took part in my first swap, and can reveal what I made.  I was so nervous about making this cover and also sending it off.  I hope the recipient likes it.

I used vintage fabrics, all collected on op-shopping adventures and crocheted an edging.

I finished of the back closure with vintage buttons, that my mother-in-law collects for me.

And I was lucky enough to receive the cushon cover that was made for me, by the lovely Kelly at The Handmaden.

It is the perfect fit for my step daughters bedroom.

Head over to Punky & Me’s site to check out all the other super talented crafty people out there who have made some lovley covers.

Making Quilts.

A group of mum’s from our school have got together and are putting together a quilt to raffle off and hopefully raise a few dollars to help out around they school.  It has been a great experience, with lots of chatting happening and a bottle of wine or tow shared along the way.

Here is the finished quilt top, now we just need to send it to be quilted and binded.

Swip-swap

I have just signed myself up to participate in a cushion swap.  A cushion swap, what is that I hear you say.  A cushion swap is where i make a cushion cover and send it to a random other crafter out there who has signed up to be a part of the swap.  It is a little bit a crafting for me, and having the pleasure of sending it to someone who love handmade too.

I have not participated in a swap before, and I am a little bit excited and a large bit nervous.  What if what I make is crap, or the person does not like it.  And where will I go for inspiration.  Oh… I better start looking.

Craft swaps are not a new thing.  They have been going for ages, I just have never had the guts to join in.  You too can join in here.  Go on, head there now!! And thanks to Vic for hosting.

Here are some pics of what I may use as inspiration.

Think about joining in.  It will be fun.

My Creative Space #10

This week, I have been super super busy with the hook and yarn.  I have started two projects, and one of them needs to be finished by Saturday night.

Firstly, there is this cushion, that was inspired by Kate at Foxes Lane Flood Relief Cushion auction.  It has been great to make, and the biggest crochet project I have tackled to date.

I think that it is coming along nicely, and am pretty happy with the results so far.  This one has to be finished by Saturday night, but I think I will get it done.  If you want to give this a go for yourself, you can get the pattern here, from the very talented The Royal Sisters.  I love their patterns, and have brought their Grandma Violet cushion pattern as well to tackle next.

And I have been working on this blanket too.

I found the pattern here on Ravelery.  This one is a gift for a friends baby, and they are not due for a few weeks yet, so the blanket has been put on hold until I have the cushion finished.

I have had fun working on these projects, and am really looking forward to getting these finished and working on something new and challenging.  The Grandma Violet cushion that I plan to tackle next has a few new stitches that I have not tried in it, so it will be good to give that a go.

And also, if you have read this far, I am having a SALE this week.  Just use promo code: CS17 at the checkout to get 20% off all purchases, and feel free to tell your friends.

Make sure you pop over to Kristy’s for more creative goodness this week.

Product Review – Embroidery Pattern’s

I thought it was time for a little product review.

This week I have decided to feature the lovely embroidery patterns by Kristen Doren Designs.  At the Miss Milla’s store, we stock 3 of Kristen’s patterns, and these are the ultimate kit for the beginner, as the only stitch you will need to complete these projects is plain old back-stitch.

Find me here!!

Find me here!!

Find me here!!

These are just great, easy to use patterns, as all you need to do is stitch over the design that is already printed on the fabric for you.  You also get a paper copy of the pattern, so you can stitch it over and over again.

My suggestion, give this one a go.  All three designs are wonderful, modern patterns that you will love.
